54 minutes to Christmas

“54 Minutes to Christmas” is a personal space for each of us, where we can feel the mystery of the birth of new light and hope in our hearts. It is a time when the soul senses the invisible touches of a Miracle and is filled with Compassion and Love… It is a night of mysterious healing – when, suddenly, one can realize that every moment is unique, that we are all pilgrims journeying toward the light of the Star, collectively sharing the diverse colors of emotions along our life paths.

The audio album “54 Minutes to Christmas” by Ukrainian-Swiss composer, pianist, organist, and improviser Anastasiya Lozova is dedicated to the celebration of Christmas in Ukraine, which was celebrated for the first time together with the entire Christian world on December 24, 2023. All ten compositions included in the album are original arrangements, interpretations, and improvisations on the themes of Ukrainian carols and Christmas songs. The album also features a few European Christmas melodies. In each track, these melodies can be heard intertwining into a continuous musical texture, organically flowing from one into another, creating a sense of a separate microcosm with boundless emotional and spiritual depth. This is why the author chose not to give each track a specific title, but rather uses the universal title “Composition” with sequential numbering for all the tracks.

The recording took place in Lviv from August 4 to 6, 2023, at the Myroslav Skoryk Lviv National Philharmonic in the Liudkevych Concert Hall. Anastasiya Lozova performed her works on a Steinway & Sons grand piano.
